The commencement ceremony for the Central Hardin High School Class of 2022 will take place at Broadbent Arena on the campus of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky on Monday, May 30, 2022. The ceremony will start at 6 pm.
An announcement confirming the location for CHHS graduation could not be made until Hardin County Schools had received written confirmation from KFEC officials. That confirmation came today.
Construction crews are renovating Central Hardin High School. The gymnasium at the school is closed and nearly two hundred parking spaces are off-limits because of construction. Therefore, graduation ceremonies could not take place at the school and accommodate the nearly 5,000 people that normally attend.
“The only facility in Hardin County that can hold 4,000-plus people is our gymnasium and that is not available,” CHHS Principal Tim Isaacs said. “If we took our graduation to another high school, we could only provide less than five tickets to each graduate. We want as many family and friends to experience this exciting moment as possible. Broadbent Arena seats more than 6,500 people.
“Jefferson County Public Schools has priority in reserving Broadbent,” Isaacs added. “That is why the ceremony will take place on Monday, May 30. The next available date for the facility was more than a week after our last day of school on May 26.”
Logistical information regarding parking, transportation to Louisville for those who need it, report time for graduates and graduation practice, etc., will be available as the date gets closer.
